Northamptonshire Probation Area has a partnership with Tresham Institute with the joint support of the Learning Skills Council and NPD. This partnership looks set to continue.
Northamptonshire’s Partnership Team work with accommodation advice agencies and is actively involved in partnership working with the Supporting People team. A jointly funded research project has highlighted the shortfall in accommodation provision for offenders in Northamptonshire, compared to the national average. The Supporting People team is engaged in pursuing alternatives to enable this provision to be extended. A protocol for managing the housing needs of high risk offenders in the community is being agreed with local partnerships. In 2004/2005 489 people were referred for housing of which 105 were accommodated.
The Probation Service has continued to work with the county's Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships by contributing to the planning and delivery of their action plans. A key area of work has been the identification of Prolific and Priority Offenders in each district and borough, and the preparation of action plans to reduce repeat offending. These action plans may involve addressing the offender’s needs, for example in education and employment, as well as bringing offenders to justice.
