Volunteering with Northamptonshire Probation Trust's REACH Project

Northamptonshire Probation Trust is currently seeking volunteer mentors to work with offenders on the REACH Project. The REACH Project aims to link offenders with suitable mentors who can provide support, to help them overcome their barriers to employment, training or education.

Volunteers must be 18 years or over and be prepared to give a minimum of two hours a week towards mentoring their assigned participant.

A short training course exists for Northamptonshire Probation Trust's REACH volunteer mentors by our partners at the Bridge Programme, who also provide ongoing support and development opportunities throughout their engagement with the REACH Project. Expenses are also payable.

Working as a volunteer can help when looking for new career opportunities. Due to the nature of our work, volunteers must undertake Criminal Record Bureau checks.

Have you got the qualities to be a successful mentor?

  • Good communication skills
  • An open mind and a  non judgemental approach
  • Reliability
